Assistance Dog Training Part 1
Is this the best photo? No. Not by a long shot.
However...This photo shows Giddy doing a job. No, he is not just chilling on the sofa. He is showing how frickin' awesome he is.
Let me explain:
In this photo I am taking part in an online therapy session (I have one approx twice a month). This session was particularly difficult and my Assistance Dog, in training, came up to my legs; nudged me, asked to be let up; jumped up onto my lap; placed his front paws onto my chest; waited for my breathing to regulate and then curled up by my side.
This is why this photo is important. My fabulous dog is showing how perceptive and intuitive he is, and that I've made the right choice in choosing him as my Assistance Dog. He also helped me (along with my therapist) to 'drop anchor' take a moment and recalibrate. Rather than getting lost in revisiting a difficult moment.
